Bangalore to Bahrain

It only occurred to me today, as I prepare to go home from Bangalore, how upsetting some goodbyes are. Almost all my friends have already left, but over time, I’ve started call Bangalore my new home. I’m leaving a part of myself here, my sister and also, Pegasus.

I’m not heading home not because I want to, but because I love my sister I’ll take that plane. Give my parents one more chance Read the rest of this entry »

Atheist Christmas - PART 3

Atheist Christmas P-3

Notice:

Lets go back in time to December of 2002, and we will return to the Part 3 of my original blog entry for December 25, 2006.

The story of a Catholic Teenager turned Atheist - finale

Silence, Reverence, & Peace…

The hallmarks of a Church. I just wish that the new age understood this before they had decided to take their previously unexpressed teenage angst and inflict it upon the Church and Christianity. I lived and still live amongst Christians. I understand Christianity much better than most of the true believers out there. After spending 12 years in bible classes, many years of church every single day (when I lived in Bahrain) & rest of the years, I visited church only on Sundays (after coming back to India). My knowledge about what I am and what I wanted to become was at a turning point. I had my path chosen already. The path of god. No, I wasn’t going to be a priest. I wanted to be out there helping people. The poor, those who are hungry, those who lack spirit. To give them strength, hopes for a better tomorrow. But my faith was to be put to an ultimate test. Mom went to a far away place…

As you all know, my relationship with my parents isn’t such a good one. After years of living with Mom, I realized that blood isn’t the only thing that makes you family. At my houses, both in Cochin and Bahrain, I never really felt at home

“A Family is a Place, To cry, To laugh, To vent frustration, To ask for help, And tease, And yell, To be kissed and hugged and smiled at. It’s not blood that brings our ties but friendship of the third degree.” - This phrase makes me jealous each time I read it.

Broken apart by age, drifted away from each other in time, my family has not only separated each other by miles, but in hearts too. I don’t expect any of us to come together again, like we used to love. The only two people I love on this planet, and call a family is my sister & her little girl. It will always be like that, forever! because I will only let a person hurt me once.

I’m not here to ramble about my dysfunctional family, but I just wanted to share something small… Read the rest of this entry »

My First Laptop.

Well, here it is. I’ve waited a whole two months for this day. Its an LG X-note Lappy, which isn’t exactly what I had in mind but atleast it will let me be with my friends and readers again. The configuration is pretty weak, with a RAM of just 256MB & graphics of 128MB. I just got it today and since my broadband connection hasn’t been approved yet, I’m using an EDGE data line through a Nokia N73. I’m gonna get a new Wi-Fi router and plug into a broadband connection by next week.

Wake me up, when October ends.

10 days.

possibilities of warmth are now gone, and the chill of winter is on the horizon. Skies turn grey, and people turn inward, both physically and mentally.

My sister Angeline (Anjechi) & My niece Evelyn (Evie) got on a flight heading to Cochin today morning; to visit our Mother. She will return in TEN DAYS,… but someone else is coming along with her. MOM!

Mom is planning a trip to Bahrain (to visit Dad) in a couple of weeks (I wasn’t told about this up until recently. Then again, I don’t really care about people who fail to understand me). She decided to tag along with my sister to Bangalore & have a final look at her “beloved” son. Read the rest of this entry »

it was Onam

Most of you know that my family is here for the Onam holidays. I’m terribly sorry for leaving without a notice (I wasn’t expecting it either). I was out with my family for the last two days to celebrate the festival. We just got back to my parent’s house & I better write about it when its fresh in my memory.

I was hoping to spend some time with my sister this season. She flew in last week (& no, Emily, her arms were not tired from flying). Just like always, when ever I expected some quality time at “home”, Dad (On leave from his work in Bahrain) booked hotel rooms and dinners at Cochin city (As days pass, I’m less and less informed of what goes on inside my parent’s house). I couldn’t say no to it since Onam was a “family thing”. So, there I was, sitting at the back seat with people who I have nothing in common with, going to some hotel, to sit around a table in a dimly lit room to celebrate another festival that I hate.

Wrong Shoes!!

shoes.jpgDear Diary,

I went to pick up Angeline & Evelyn from the airport today. The Bangalore flight arrived 20 minutes earlier than expected in Cochin International. Needless to say, I was still on my way to the airport at well over 100Kms/Hr. Anjechi called me and said that she would wait up front after getting her luggage.

Minutes later, I payed the parking fees for the Airport, picked up my phone from the dashboard and and walked to the gates. Dialing Anjechi’s cell on my way. I saw Evie next to her mom pushing the trolley (she thinks she is a big help for mommy) the minute Anjechi picked up the phone. We both said “hello” together, looking at each other with a huge glass pane separating us. It had been 2 months since I saw Evie on my last trip to Bangalore in June. She hid her face behind Mommy when she got sight me standing at the domestic flights’ arrival gates.

Even after Evie’s 2nd birthday, I still don’t feel like an uncle. Read the rest of this entry »
